MINSK, 29 May (BelTA) – Chinese specialists will begin the accreditation process for Belarusian meat-processing companies on 10 June, the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.
A government conference was held by the Belarusian agriculture and food minister on 29 May. Results of the official delegation’s visit to China as part of the Belarus president’s latest working visit to China were discussed. According to the source, specialists of the Chinese food quality oversight agency — the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China — will stay in Belarus as from 10 June. They will accredit Belarusian meat-processing companies.
BelTA reported earlier that Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Zayats met with Zhi Shuping, Minister of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China, on 15 May. An agreement on allowing Belarusian beef sales in China was initialed during the meeting. Once several formalities are over, the agreement will be signed as part of the official visit of the Chinese food quality oversight agency head to Minsk on 7-12 July.
In October 2016 specialists of the Chinese food quality watchdog audited four Belarusian meat-processing enterprises — Brest Meat Packing Plant, Grodno Meat Packing Plant, Mogilev Meat Packing Plant, and Veles-Mit. As a result of the audit the four enterprises adjusted their manufacturing processes and veterinary documents to match Chinese requirements. The work has been finished and the results fully satisfy the Chinese side.
