GRODNO, 9 March (BelTA) – Chinese companies are showing interest in investment projects of the tourist and recreation park Augustow Canal, BelTA learnt from the Administration of the Free Economic Zone Grodnoinvest.
Chinese businessmen from Gansu Province expressed their interest in developing tourism cooperation with Grodno Oblast during their visit to Grodno last week. The businessmen stressed that they saw a big potential in developing Belarusian-Chinese relations in the area. The free-visa entry for tourist groups will contribute to it as well. The Chinese delegation paid close attention to the presented projects of the park and invited Grodno representatives to take part in a tourist exhibition which is due in Gansu Province in June 2016.
It is expected that in 2016 Grodno will be visited by representatives of the tourist companies from the Chinese Province.
The visit of Chinese businessmen to Grodno was organized with a view to discuss trade and economic cooperation and the implementation of joint investment projects in the industrial and tourist sectors with the authorities of FEZ Grodnoinvest and representatives of its resident companies. The guests from Gansu Province got familiar with the doing business potential in the Grodno free economic zone, studied proposals of the FEZ Grodnoinvest resident companies such as KvinFood, Biocom, Biocom-Technology, Lakokraska, Medlen and others. The Chinese representatives also met with the Grodno City Hall authorities.
Gansu Province lies in the central part of the People’s Republic of China. Its population is nearly 26 million. In 2014 the Chinese province and the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee signed a memorandum of cooperation to strengthen economic and trade cooperation, developed a regional cooperation program for 2014-2020. Grodno and China’s Longnan signed a twin-town agreement in 2015.
