Chinese CNCEC may build nitrogen plant in Belarusian Grodno

MINSK, 28 December (BelTA) – China National Chemical Engineering Corporation (CNCEC) may take part in the tender to build a nitrogen plant in Belarus. The possibility was discussed as Ambassador of Belarus to China Kirill Rudy met with CNCEC Director General for International Business Wang Lei, representatives of the embassy told BelTA.

Wang Lei informed about the Chinese company’s successful track record in building chemical enterprises in China, Russia, Egypt, and Indonesia. The sides discussed prospects of CNCEC taking part in the tender for building a nitrogen plant in Belarus.

Previously BelTA reported plans to build a new nitrogen plant in Grodno. The approximate cost of the project exceeded $1 billion.

The project was reviewed in March 2017 when Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko visited Grodno Oblast. Back then the head of state gave instructions to consider building a new nitrogen plant in Belarus and determining the best location for the plant taking into account logistics, available manpower, and other important considerations.
