MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) – One of the biggest Chinese holding companies, China Merchants Group, is interested in implementing a large-scale logistics and transportation project in the Great Stone Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park, BelTA learned from the Economy Ministry after Belarusian Economy Minister Alexander Yaroshenko met with senior executives of the holding company and the companies it owns.
The sides discussed the implementation of investment projects in Belarus in general, and in the Great Stone Industrial Park in particular. Vice President of China Merchants Group Hu Zheng praised the location of the park and the approach to its organization. “The delegation of China Merchants Group studied the conditions and potential of the industrial park, including with regard to the development prospects of the Silk Road Economic Belt, and showed interest in carrying out a large-scale logistics project,” the Belarusian Economy Ministry said.
Hu Zheng shared his experience in the development of industrial zones, as China Merchants Group has successfully created two big industrial zones — Shekou Industrial Zone and Zhangzhou Development Zone. For its part, the National Investment and Privatization Agency held a presentation of Belarus’ investment opportunities for the Chinese businessmen.
Partaking in the meeting also were representatives of the administration of the Great Stone Industrial Park and the Industrial Park Development Company. The sides outlined issues that will be further discussed during the elaboration of the logistics and transportation project.
