China-Belarus industrial park’s accomplishments reviewed

MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – Representatives of the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone have reviewed the park’s accomplishments over the course of five years of work, BelTA has learned.

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and China President Xi Jinping came to the site of the future industrial park on 12 May 2015. The heads of state launched the largest joint project that was destined to become a pearl of the Silk Road Economic Belt. Growing as an investment cooperation platform, today’s Great Stone park is open to business of the entire world and offers some of the most beneficial conditions for doing business. The China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone is home to 65 resident companies from 14 countries that work hard to implement projects in the sphere of high technologies.

The construction of the park’s engineering and transport infrastructure began five years ago. The first stage occupying 855ha is now ready for the arrival of resident companies and for the dynamic launch of projects. 26 companies in the park already make products, offer services, and focus on R&D work.

The park’s accomplishments have been duly appreciated by international experts. The World Free and Special Economic Zones Federation (FEMOZA) named the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone the world's fastest-growing special economic zone. The Asiamoney magazine named the park the best project of the Belt and Road initiative. The top global business publication Financial Times has rated the park twice already – in 2019 and 2020.

The China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone is a special economic zone with a special legal regime. It is located 25km away from Minsk. The park’s priority development areas include mechanical engineering, electronics and telecommunications, biotechnologies, pharmaceutics, new materials, logistics, digital commerce, big data storage and processing.
