MINSK, 14 December (BelTA) – Belarus’ Consul General in Istanbul Aleksei Shved made a working trip to the city of Corlu in the northwestern province of Tekirdag, a major center of Turkish light industry, BelTA learned from the Consulate General of Belarus in Istanbul.
The consul met with Corlu Mayor Ahmet Sarikurt to discuss ways of stepping up regional cooperation, mainly in trade and economy. The Turkish side made a proposal to establish twin-town relations with one of the Belarusian cities.
The consul also met with Chairman of the Board of the Corlu Chamber of Commerce and Industry Izzet Volkan and briefed him on the capacities of light industry in Belarus. The parties exchanged views on possible areas of cooperation and talked about a visit of a delegation of the Belarusian light industry concern Bellegprom scheduled for 2021 to Turkey. It was agreed to resume contacts between Corlu and the Minsk Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
At the talks wit executives of the Corlu Leather Organized Industrial Zone, the parties explored the possibilities of technological cooperation and the establishment of cooperative chains for leather processing.
