Calls to set up Union State media holding company

MINSK, 4 November (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko proposed to set up a media holding company of the Union State at a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State on 4 November, BelTA has learned.

Reacting to the speech of State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev, who touched upon the cooperation in mass media, the president suggested reforming the Union State media. Setting up a media holding company could be one of the solutions, the head of state said.

"I offer serious reforms on this front. I suggest we set up a media holding company of the Union State. Instead of spending  financial resources, albeit small, on newspapers, magazines, Telegram channels and other ‘youtubes’, we’d better concentrate them on an appropriate group, a media holding company and tell people of what is happening. Today we spread this money thinly, put it in different cups but see no tangible returns,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
