MINSK, 30 March (BelTA) – In 2023 the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) has plans to actively promote domestic products in Israel and other countries of the Middle East that have their companies accredited on the exchange platform, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange Eduard Belsky said as he met with co-founder of Global Edge Sourcing Boris Gelfand who represents the interests of BUCE in Israel as a non-resident broker, BelTA learned from the BUCE press service.

“First of all, we are talking about sawn timber that is in high demand in Israel and other countries of the Middle East. In this regard, we are counting on your assistance with attracting large Israeli importers of woodworking products to our trading platform,” Eduard Belsky said addressing the broker. “You know very well all the key players in this market, plus you have practical experience in purchasing sawn timber at exchange auctions and delivering it to Israel. I would like to emphasize once again that we view the Middle East as a very promising market, so this year we intend to focus our efforts on finding potential buyers from Israel and nearby states,” he said.

Boris Gelfand confirmed his readiness to act as an intermediary for BUCE in the Middle East, and also informed about arrangements with one of Israel’s leading sawn timber importers regarding participation in exchange trading. “This is a really solid company with a 30-year history. It is interested in regular purchases of large batches of sawn timber. The other day we visited a number of Belarusian woodworking enterprises, and we absolutely liked the quality of their products. Now we need to work out such important issues as logistics and payments. As far as logistics is concerned, we already have several viable options. As for payments, we would like to use some BUCE tools, namely the possibility of making settlements through exchange sub-accounts. This will ensure the proper execution of the transaction with almost zero risk on our part,” the Israeli businessman added.
