BSU to host Belarusian-Chinese conference on education on 26 October

MINSK, 19 October (BelTA) - About 100 representatives of Belarusian universities, public administration bodies and professors of Chinese universities will meet at the international conference “Belarusian-Chinese cooperation in higher education within the framework of the Belt and Road project”, BelTA learned from the press service of Belarusian State University.

The university will host the event on 26 October. The participants will make reports on the current status and prospects for the development of the education systems of Belarus and China, and will examine the collaboration between universities of the two countries and ways of strengthening it.

About 14 thematic reports will be on the agenda. The forum is expected to develop recommendations for development of partnership relations between Belarus and China in education and scientific research. The program also includes a ceremony to unveil a bust to philosopher Confucius which will be attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming.

The conference has been organized by the National Institute of Higher School, the National Confucius Institute at BSU, and the Dalian Polytechnic University.

The Belt and Road project was initiated in 2013 by President Xi Jinping and involves the projects the Silk Road Economic Zone and the Maritime Silk Road of the 21st century. The concept of the global project is to create and promote a new model of economic cooperation based on strengthening the existing bilateral and multilateral mechanisms of interaction involving China. The project covers the countries of Eurasia, connects the developed and developing countries. The initiative will contribute to the economic prosperity of the countries-participants of the project and strengthen cultural exchanges and links.
