German industrial companies have come up with an idea to hold an international technology forum on the premises of Belarusian Steel Works (BMZ trademark) in Zhlobin. The proposal was voiced during the recent visit of the Saxony economic representative in Russia Manfred Liebl to the Belarusian company. The German guest held talks with the management staff of the steel works and with the chief executives of five enterprises of Belarusian Metallurgical Holding Company.
He noted that he got the idea to hold such a meeting after he saw BMZ’s exposition at the industrial expo in Leipzig. German manufacturing companies got interested in cooperating with Belarusian enterprises.
The prospects for cooperation will become clear after the technology forum in July 2015. Partaking in the event will be enterprises of Belarusian Metallurgical Holding Company and also representatives of some 15 companies of Saxony, one of the most developed industrial regions of Germany.
Belarusian Steel Works has already established cooperation ties with some of them. For example, it cooperates with the Linde Group that is the largest manufacturer of equipment for the production of industrial gases including oxygen. The German company supplied air-separation compressors for gas-oxygen stations No.2 and No.3 that will go on stream in the near future.
Manfred Liebl also said that he visited Belarusian Steel Works in 1987 and saw the launch of steel wire production unit No.1. He noted that he was surprised to see the significant technological progress of the enterprise.
Founded in 1984, the public joint-stock company OAO Belarusian Steel Works is the management company of Belarusian Metallurgical Holding Company. The enterprise specializes in cast bars, profiled iron, rolled steel, reinforcing bars, metal cord, wire for high-pressure hoses and other kinds of wire. BMZ exports over 80% of the output and employs almost 12,000 people.
