Berlin hosts Belarusian Economy Day

MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian Economy Day was held in Berlin, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

The event was organized by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce, with the assistance of the German economy representative office in Belarus, the Belarusian Embassy in Germany, Belarusbank and Commerzbank AG.

The German participants were informed about the development of the Belarusian economy, including Belarus' membership in the Eurasian Economic Union. The Belarusian delegation met with leaders and representatives of the Belarusian enterprises in Germany.

A separate discussion on the status and prospects of cooperation in the energy sector was held during the event. In addition, Berlin hosted the meeting of the working group of representatives of Belenergo and the German Energy Agency (DENA). A memorandum of cooperation was signed between Belenergo and the Renewables Academy (Berlin), and the agreement on training between Eximgarant of Belarus and Pricewaterhousecoopers AG. Negotiations were also held between the Belarusian participants and representatives of the German banks and businesses.

The Belarusian delegation at the event was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Guryanov. The delegation also included Deputy Economy Minister Anton Kudasov, First Deputy Energy Minister Leonid Shenets, First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Standardization Valentin Tataritsky,

Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vladimir Ulakhovich, Chairman of the Board of Belarusbank Sergei Pisarik, representatives of the National Agency of Investment and Privatization, the free economic zones, a number of Belarusian banks and enterprises.

The forum was also attended by representatives of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, German Federal Foreign Office, business associations, banking and consulting structures, business community.
