GOMEL, 31 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft intends to add about 2.3 million tonnes to the extractable oil reserves this year. Belorusneft Deputy Director General for Geology Piotr Povzhik shared the projections with reporters ahead of Oil, Gas, and Fuel Industries Workers Day, BelTA has learned.
According to Piotr Povzhik, preliminary results of the year 2023 indicate that the company will add about 2.3 million tonnes to the extractable oil reserves. Such massive additions have not been made since the early 1980s, he added.
The executive reminded that more than half of the oil reserves in Belarus are hard to extract. “This is why the deeper our specialists reach into prehistoric and impenetrable recesses under Polesie, the more surprising their revelations become. This strategy has been fully justified,” the source noted.
The Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft was founded in 1966. The company specializes in exploration, prospecting, and development of oil fields, well drilling, extraction of oil and associated petroleum gas in Belarus. Belorusneft also runs oil industry operations in other countries.
