MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) - The stand of the Belarusian nuclear power plant BelNPP was presented at the IAEA headquarters as part of the 68th IAEA General Conference, BelTA learned from the Information and PR Department of BelNPP.
In his speech at the opening of the stand, BelNPP Director General Sergei Bobovich emphasized the primary role of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in the implementation of the project. The head of the nuclear power plant thanked the IAEA for comprehensive support and technical assistance, mentioning the positive changes that had taken place both in the area of the plant’s construction and in the country in the general thanks to the nuclear power plant.
“Benefits of nuclear power are obvious. This is true not only in respect to the economy, but also to other fields of social life: science, education, healthcare, rapid development of new technologies and competencies,” Sergei Bobovich said.
The Belarusian nuclear power plant has participated in exhibitions on the sidelines of the IAEA General Conference since 2015. In accordance with the principles of openness and transparency, Belarus has provided representatives of the international nuclear energy community with full information regarding all stages of the plant’s construction. This year, the company's stand has displayed information on the first results of the BelNPP's operation and its integration into the Belarusian economy.
