MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) – A delegation of the Belarusian state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim is set to conduct negotiations on supplies of oil to Belarus in Kazakhstan on 6 February, BelTA learned from the Belneftekhim press service.
“The Belneftekhim delegation led by Belneftekhim Deputy Chairman Andrei Bunakov is in Kazakhstan where it will hold talks on oil supplies,” the press service said.
Belarusian First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Krutoi has been authorized to sign the agreement with Kazakhstan on supplies of oil and petroleum products to Belarus. The press service of the Belarusian government noted that the agreement is being finalized. Dmitry Krutoi will not take part in the talks on 6 February.
BelTA reported earlier that Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed a decree to authorize the government to conduct negotiations with Kazakhstan on trade and economic cooperation in the area of delivery of oil and petroleum products to Belarus. Previously Aleksandr Lukashenko repeatedly mentioned Kazakhstan as one of the countries Belarus may potentially import oil from. The matter was discussed among other things during the official visit of the Belarusian head of state to Kazakhstan in October 2019.
Deputy Prime Minister Igor Lyashenko informed that Belarus is interested in duty-free deliveries of oil from Kazakhstan. According to him, the agreement on delivering Kazakh oil and petroleum products to Belarus is nearly ready, primarily administrative procedures are left to be addressed.
