MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) - Export by the companies affiliated with the Belarusian state light industry concern Bellegprom rose by 15% in January-April 2021 to total $142.3 million, Bellegprom’s chairperson Tatiana Lugina told the media, BelTA has learned.
"During the period under review the import amounted to $75.3 million, or 103.8%. The concern had a foreign trade surplus of $67 million," Tatiana Lugina said.
In January-April, Bellegprom’s export to the EU amounted to $20.2 million, up by 21.8% year-on-year. The export to the EU accounted for 14.2% of Bellegprom’s total export, up from 13.4% in January-April 2020. Export to long-distance countries and other countries amounted to $20.9 million, up by 2.2% year-on-year. The share of export to long-distance countries and other countries reached 14.7% of Bellegprom’s total exports as against 16.6% in January - April 2020.
"We do not discount the Chinese market. We see it as promising for a number of commodity groups, such as leather and textiles. For the time being we cannot boast about export growth dynamics to this market. But we keep on working. We exhibit our samples there, we are looking for dealers," the head of the concern said.
According to her, in January-April of this year, 55 companies of the Bellegprom exported their products to 48 countries. Exports to 26 countries increased, including to Russia (by 16,5%), Ukraine (10.3%), Lithuania (34.6%), Estonia (77%), the United States (71.2%), Belgium (8.5%), Italy (162.9%), Kyrgyzstan (43.3%), Arminius (16.8%), Sweden (43.2%), China (22.6%), Uzbekistan (7.3%), Czechia (120.7%), Slovakia (140.7%), France (more than 15 times), Israel (293.8%) and others.
"As for the products that were in demand in foreign markets, linen products by Orsha Flax Mill were popular in the markets of long-distance countries and the EU it. In European countries, sewing products sold well last year," Tatiana Lugina said.
Tatiana Lugina also highlighted the positive dynamics of Bellegprom across key indicators. In January-April, revenue from the sale of goods totaled Br613 million, up by 12.8% year-on-year. “Our companies secured profit from the sale of products in the amount of Br61 million, up by 16.4% from January-April 2020. Net profit was Br25.8 million, on a positive growth track too. The number of loss-making enterprises has reduced. We have been working on this and are doing well," the chairman of the concern said.
Bellegprom has 73 companies. About 2,000 legal entities with the main economic activity "Production of textiles, clothing, leather goods and fur" have been registered in Belarus.
