MINSK, 14 June (BelTA) - Belarusian State Concern for Manufacturing and Marketing of Light Industry Goods Bellegprom became an associated member of Euratex, European Apparel and Textile Confederation uniting major industry organizations of the European Union and also Switzerland and Turkey, BelTA learned from Bellegprom’s press service.
Bellegprom sent an application to join this influential European organization in March 2016. “The decision on Bellegprom was taken during the 20th Euratex General Assembly held in Brussels on 9 June. It was attended by Belarus’ Permanent Representative in the EU Andrei Yevdochenko and Bellegprom’s delegate Anna Dashkova,” informed the press service.
Euratex was created in 1996. It currently unites about 174,000 companies with a combined turnover of €162 billion employing 1.66 million workers. Euratex represents the interests of the European textile and clothing industry at the level of the EU institutions. Professional associations from more than 20 countries are full members of Euratex. The organizations from seven countries including Belarus have associated membership.
