MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) – Belkommunmash engineering company s planning to launch a plant to assemble electric buses in India, Director General Vladimir Korol told the media on 24 September, BelTA has learned.
Vladimir Korol noted that the enterprise is planning to send a sample batch of at least 40 electric buses to India. “It is important to deliver first vehicles and demonstrate their work. There is still a number of issues associated with the delivery; the duties are very high. We will discuss the issue taking into account the prospects for joint ventures. We already understand who we can work with and where to assemble,” he said. India’s demand for electric buses is estimated at about 1,000 units. The joint venture is expected to deliver machinery to African countries as well.
When asked about maintenance, the director general said: “India has already decided on production sites for both assembling and maintenance.”
Together with the top executives of the Indian partner company Axis Mobility, Vladimir Korol is taking part in the Belarusian-Indian business forum on 24 September. Attending the forum are representatives of over 50 Belarusian enterprises and 18 companies - members of the Confederation of Indian Industry. The companies have an opportunity to establish business contacts and discuss export of products and services. The forum has been organized by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry together with the Confederation of Indian Industry.
