MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian passenger car manufacturer BelGee plans to make some 28,000 cars in 2020, Belarus’ Industry Minister Pavel Utyupin told the media ahead of the ministerial board meeting on 6 February, BelTA has learned.

“We are working on the development and promotion of new manufacturing facilities. They are contributing to the economy of our country. For example, BelGee made and sold more than 20,000 cars in 2019. This year the company plans to expand its output. The goal for 2020 is 28,000 cars,” Pavel Utyupin said.

Among the new manufacturing facilities are also companies that make car parts for BelGee, MAZ-Weichai engine plant at the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone, and a plant to produce seamless cylinders Cylinders-Bel in Orsha.

“Another important area is the design of new products that will be in demand in the market. For example, MTZ has launched tractors with the Stage V environmental class engines. Unfortunately, they still use foreign engines. But we have launched a program with Minsk Motor Plant to develop a domestic engine of the Stage V environmental class. We expect this engine in the first quarter to carry out all the necessary certification procedures. In the second half of the year, these vehicles will be equipped with domestic engines,” the minister said.

MAZ is also working on new products. These include a low-floor bus MAZ-303, a 4-wheel-drive truck with a 8x8 wheel formula MAZ-65262L with a carrying capacity of 36.7 tonnes.
