BelAZ to ship 96 haul trucks to India

MINSK, 1 February (BelTA) - The Belarusian heavy truck manufacturer BelAZ and the Indian state company Coal India have concluded a contract on the delivery of 96 Belarusian haul trucks with carrying capacity of 220 tonnes. The document was signed during the visit of Belarus' Industry Minister Pyotr Parkhomchik and BelAZ Director General Sergei Nikiforovich to Kolkata, India, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in India.

During the visit the Belarusian delegation also held talks with representatives of the Indian company, businesspeople and the government of West Bengal State.

“The signing of this largest contract for the supply of Belarusian haul trucks to South Asia is the result of many years of work by BelAZ and the Belarusian embassy in India to promote the products of the flagship of the Belarusian industry in the Indian market. According to the agreements, the first batch of six vehicles will be delivered in Q1-early Q2 2021. Based on the results of testing, a decision will be made on the delivery of the main batch of haul trucks,” the diplomatic mission said.

In 2020, BelAZ supplied 77 haul trucks with carrying capacity of 136 tonnes to the same company. More than half of them have been assembled and are already in operation at Indian coal mines.
