MINSK, 4 October (BelTA) - The Belarusian heavy truck manufacturer BelAZ and the Russian energy company Gazprom are considering promising areas of partnership in import substitution, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian company.
BelAZ was visited by the Russian delegation of Gazprom Group of Companies headed by Gazprom Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board Vitaly Markelov. Vitaly Markelov and BelAZ Director General Sergei Nikiforovich considered priority areas in import substitution and discussed BelAZ promising innovative developments in using natural gas as motor fuel for quarry machinery.
The Russian delegation got familiar with the key production sites of the company, showed interest in the company’s modernization process, the process of assembling quarry machinery, and the geography of exports. Vitaly Markelov was shown samples of innovative BelAZ quarry equipment, including a haul truck running on natural gas.
The company also hosted a meeting on cooperation between Gazprom and Belarusian enterprises with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Pyotr Parkhomchik. The parties discussed issues related to the participation of Belarusian manufacturers in procurement programs for Gazprom's needs, development of the country's gas transportation system, and innovations of the flagships of the domestic machine building industry in gas fuel usage.
The public joint-stock company (OAO) BelAZ is the managing company of the holding company BelAZ. BelAZ is the world’s largest manufacturer of haul trucks with a large carrying capacity and an extremely large carrying capacity as well as other kinds of heavy transport equipment for the mining industry and the civil engineering industry. BelAZ occupies about 30% of the world market of haul trucks with an extremely large carrying capacity. The company makes the world's largest haul truck with the carrying capacity of 450 tonnes.
