MINSK, 18 April (BelTA) – BelAZ Director General Sergei Lesin told the Belarus 1 TV channel about the localization of the company’s production, BelTA has learned.

“Our model range is big, so it would be incorrect to talk about average localization. I will put it this way: the level of localization of domestic units and components ranges from 60% to 75%: 75% are vehicles with hydromechanical transmissions, 60% are vehicles with electromechanical transmissions. About 40-60% of components are manufactured directly at production sites, 20% is purchased from Belarusian enterprises,” said Sergei Lesin.

According to him, localization should be viewed not only from an economic perspective, but also from the perspective of technological sovereignty and security. “In this regard, enterprises of the Union State should be viewed as entities located in a common space. And if we look at the level of localization within the Union State, then the picture looks quite optimistic,” noted the director general. “For example, the localization of individual machines (30-45 tonnes) is over 95%. The same pertains to individual prototypes of haul trucks with a carrying capacity of 240 tonnes. This is not a product line yet, we are just testing the reliability of components. If we take mass production, the level of localization of these products, taking into account components from Russia, is 75%.

BelAZ is the management company of the BelAZ Holding Company. It is one of the world's largest manufacturers of haul trucks and transportation equipment for the mining and construction industries.
