MINSK, 2 May (BelTA) – The Belarusian air carrier Belavia and Turkish Airlines, the national flag carrier airline of Turkey, signed a codeshare agreement on Minsk-Istanbul flights on 1 May 2018, BelTA learned from Belavia representatives.

According to the deal, the two companies will get the right to market Minsk-Istanbul-Minsk flights on a free sale basis. Today the airlines operate five flights a week from Minsk to Istanbul and back. Turkish Airlines will place its TK code on Belavia’s flights, while B2, the code of the Belarusian air carrier, will be put on flights operated by Turkish Airlines.

“Thanks to the agreement, the passengers will get more options and opportunities for travel. They will be able to use the most comfortable interlining options and purchase tickets at the most reasonable prices. The joint operation of Minsk-Istanbul-Minsk flights will help Turkish Airlines and Belavia boost passenger traffic, especially by increasing the number of transit passengers travelling between Minsk and Istanbul,” the Belarusian company said.

“We believe that cooperation with Turkish Airlines will further increase Turkey-Belarus and Minsk-Istanbul business and tourist traffic,” Belavia director general Anatoly Gusarov remarked.

The codeshare agreement will give more options for travel between Belarus and Turkey, stressed Bilal Eksi, deputy chairman and CEO of Turkish Airlines.
