MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian air carrier Belavia may launch hand baggage-only fares within the next six months, Belarus’ Transport and Communications Minister Anatoly Sivak said at a press conference in BelTA’s press center on 23 October.
“I cannot name the concrete dates and I think this will happen within the next six months. It takes time to amend the law,” the minister said. He explained that there is no necessary legislation for this service in the country. This is why the Transport and Communications Ministry has initiated the amendments.
According to the minister, the government has supported the idea of hand baggage-only fares. “We expect that the air company will offer a certain amount of hand baggage-only fares for every flight. Today Belavia cannot sell such tickets on legal grounds ,” Anatoly Sivak added.
As BelTA reported earlier, the Transport and Communications Ministry plans to submit legislative initiatives within a month.
