MINSK, 26 September (BelTA) – Belarus will promote woodworking products onto the UK market, BelTA learned from Sergei Aleinik, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
"We trade in many things with the UK — about 190 commodity items. We export a lot of our products. The active promotion of woodworking products onto the UK market is on the agenda now," the ambassador said.
The national exposition of Belarus will debut at the international Timber Expo in Birmingham in October. "This is the largest timber dedicated expo in the UK. Almost the whole woodworking sector of Belarus will take part in it. The event will feature a presentation of our opportunities and a joint workshop together with the British Woodworking Federation. I am sure that these ties will help to make new contracts," Sergei Aleinik said.
Timber Expo is the largest forum of its kind in the UK. It is held during the UK Construction Week which unites over 650 exhibitors from all over the world with an audience of over 30,000 visitors. According to Bellesbumprom's press service, the UK is an attractive and promising market for Belarusian manufacturers. In 2016, the country imported $6.6 billion worth of timber products. It imports forest products, wood fuel, plywood, particle boards, fiberboards, furniture, and other products.
