Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange introduces special session to export wood fuel

MINSK, 3 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) will organize special trade sessions to export wood fuel twice a month starting 3 August, BelTA has learned.

These trade sessions will focus on exporting chip fuel, wood shavings, sawdust, wood waste, wood fuel briquettes, wood fuel pellets, and split firewood. By offering the entire range of fuel products within the framework of one trade session the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange intends to concentrate supply and increase the number of foreign customers thanks to more precise targeting.

Up till now wood fuel has been available for purchase together with other kinds of commercial timber. However, a noticeable increase in the interest in Belarusian fuel products on the part of foreign companies has been registered. In particular, the export of fuel pellets has been resumed. Last month chip fuel sales rose by 21% in comparison with July 2019 to Br23.6 million. The combination of all kinds of wood fuel into one trade session is expected to allow Belarusian exporters to considerably increase their sales to Europe even if the oncoming winter is as warm as the last one.

The public joint-stock company (OAO) Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange was established in 2004. The first trade sessions took place in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest mercantile exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its key function is to assist Belarusian companies with exporting their products and assist foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. The commodity exchange facilitates trade in metals, timber, agricultural products, and a broad choice of industrial and consumer goods.
