GOMEL, 5 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian steel mill BMZ has started making seven new kinds of metal products since the beginning of the year. The company started offering the new products to meet requirements of customers, BelTA has learned.
The new product types include new kinds of reinforcing bars, round bars, hot-rolled seamless pipes, and wire. The share of innovative products in the company’s total shipments has increased to 30% as a result.
Section round bars made of C50 mod carbon steel is one of the new products. BMZ worked out the technology to make the new product upon orders of a well-known German manufacturer of automobile parts. In addition to traditionally high requirements for mechanical and chemical properties the new product has high surface quality requirements: surface defects and decarbonisation must be minimized. It will allow the BMZ customer to optimize its own manufacturing process. The first batch has already been shipped to Germany. Agreements have been made on shipping more in H1 2021.
In January-March 2021 BMZ exported over $300 million worth of merchandise to 44 countries across the globe. Round bars, which are intended for automobile construction, accounted for about 10% of the export. These products have been shipped to 22 countries this year. The top consumers are Germany, Poland, Italy, and Norway.
The public joint-stock company (OAO) BMZ, the Management Company of the holding company Belarusian Metallurgical Company (BMC), is a high-tech Belarusian metallurgical enterprise. It comprises infrastructure shops and four manufacturing divisions connected by one technological chain. The divisions focus on steel smelting, mill products, pipe products, hardware items. BMZ exports more than 80% of its output every year.
