MINSK, 23 March (BelTA) – A seminar with the participation of Belarusian and South African businessmen took place in Pretoria on 23 March, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The event was held during the fourth session of Belarus-South Africa committee on trade and economic cooperation at South Africa’s Department of Trade and Industry. The seminar brought together about 30 local companies and several leading business associations.
The meeting was opened by Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkyunas and Deputy Director General of the Department of Trade and Industry Yunus Hoosen.
South African business representatives learned more about the manufacturing and export potential of Belarus. Heads of departments of foreign economic affairs at the Belarusian Industry Ministry and the Food and Agriculture Ministry gave an overview of the country’s industry and agriculture. MTZ, MAZ, and the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus (DBRB) also held presentations.
A number of specific deals were sealed at the seminar with support of the DBRB and the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa, including the agreements to supply Agrostroy drilling equipment, Belryba food products, and MAZ utility vehicles and trucks worth $3 million.
