Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation to sell amino acids via commodity exchange

MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) - Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation (BNBC) will sell essential amino acids via Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange.
On Tuesday, 15 March, Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange will start trading in the limiting amino acid L-threonine produced by BNBC. "As new production facilities are put into operation, BNBC is gradually increasing its presence on the commodity exchange. Since the beginning of the year, the corporation has concluded Br11.5 million worth of transactions as against of Br17 million in the entire period of 2021. In addition, the structure of sales is changing. Earlier the corporation mainly sold the surplus raw materials, namely fodder wheat, triticale, rye and oats. Now almost 60% of sales is generated by feed additives and premixes produced by BNBC," the press service said.
BNBC is expanding the range of its products on the domestic market, too. For example, in January 2022 the first batch of wheat protein-starch product was sold through the exchange. The sales of L-threonine at BUCE is another step in bringing the entire line of essential amino acids produced by BNBC to the exchange. By doing so, the exchange plans to solve two tasks. The first one is import substitution to meet the needs of Belarusian agricultural organizations in valuable amino acids. The second one is to develop exports through regular supplies of products with high added value. Russia is seen as a promising market.
L-threonine is the second limiting amino acid in pig breeding and the third one for other animal species. This amino acid plays an important role in protein and energy metabolism, contributing to the meat productivity of animals and the proper development of young animals.
Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and also foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry, and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
