MINSK, 10 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian tractor maker MTZ is ready to set up an enterprise to assemble tractors in Nigeria provided a reliable partner is available. The possibility was discussed as Ambassador of Nigeria to Russia with concurrent accreditation to Belarus Steve Davies Ugbah visited MTZ, BelTA has learned.
Three proposals on ways to start assembling MTZ tractors in Nigeria have been worked out. MTZ tractors are not assembled in Nigeria for now because the companies, which intended to cooperate with MTZ, had financial problems. However, the Belarusian company stands ready to provide comprehensive support to the establishment of a tractor assembly enterprise in Nigeria. The ambassador will closely oversee the matter.
The sides already discussed the possibility of assembling Belarusian tractors in Nigeria in April 2018. A memorandum of understanding was signed. The African delegation confirmed its intention. “My regular visits to MTZ indicate that our intentions are serious. I believe in MTZ products and would like to help promote them in Nigeria,” said Steve Davies Ugbah.
