MINSK, 24 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian automobile engineering company MAZ intends to increase shipments to African countries by 10% this year, BelTA learned from Anton Kozlovsky, Head of the Africa and Latin America Department of the company’s export division, on 24 August.
“We intend to increase shipments to African countries by roughly 10% this year. It is a promising region for us,” said Anton Kozlovsky.
Sergei Krel, MAZ Deputy Commercial Director, Director for Automobile Sales in Non-CIS Countries, noted that MAZ products are priced in the medium range in comparison with competitors’ products. “Our vehicles are more expensive than Chinese ones but thanks to the value for money ratio we are competitive in Africa now,” he said.
The executive pointed out that MAZ vehicles for Africa have different options due to the region’s climatic conditions. “We offer tropical tires, special wiring, more powerful air conditioning for the driver, an engine, which is simpler to repair and maintain. African consumers present a number of special requirements, which need to be fulfilled,” he added.
MAZ opened an assembly enterprise in Egypt in February. The possibility of assembling MAZ vehicles in other African countries is under consideration.
