MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) – The Belarusian automobile engineering company MAZ intends to expand the network of service centers and representative offices abroad, BelTA learned from Valery Ivankovich, Director General of OAO MAZ, the managing company of the holding company BelavtoMAZ on 16 May.

Valery Ivankovich’s appointment as the new head of the company was authorized by Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko earlier on 16 May. Valery Ivankovich underlined that MAZ is one of the leading brands in Belarus and the entire world. This is why it has to maintain high standards in order to live up to its reputation. The CEO said: “The head of state has given instructions to increase the volume of sales, step up presence on foreign markets, increase the quality of trucks and passenger vehicles, and improve aftersales service.”

As the first step after appointment Valery Ivankovich intends to evaluate the company’s HR potential. He said: “It is necessary to put together an active and businesslike team in order to tackle the tasks set by the head of state.” The director general added that personnel continuity had to be preserved.

Valery Ivankovich stated that MAZ is forced to operate in complicated conditions with significantly tougher competition on the Eurasian market. “Today Russian KamAZ is one of the top competitors on key markets for us. We have to fit into the price range between Chinese manufacturers and expensive European brands, this is why matters of quality, the organization of aftersales service, the use of financial tools to boost export, leasing programs come to the forefront. All of them combined will help us find the edge to stay ahead of KamAZ although it will not be simple,” the director general summed up.
