MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) - The Belarusian tire maker Belshina and the Japanese Yokohama company discussed setting up a joint venture during the meeting of Yokohama’s delegation led by Chairman and Representative Member of the Board Tadanobu Nagumo with Belshina’s top management, BelTA learned from representatives of the Belarusian state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim.

During the visit to Belarus Yokohama’s representatives were made familiar with Belshina’s manufacturing capacities and visited three tire plants. Belshina’s General Director Alexei Yakovlev made a presentation about the company and spoke about major investment projects carried out by Belshina.

The sides discussed the ways to promote Yokohama’s products via Belshina’s distribution network and set up a joint Belarus-based venture. Tadanobu Nagumo stressed the high level of the Belshina’s production and its solid approach to quality control. As a result of the negotiations, the Japanese side confirmed its readiness to promote mutually beneficial cooperation with Belshina.

Belshina is Europe's largest tire maker. The company produces tires for trucks and light motor vehicles, buses, trolleybuses, agricultural equipment, trailers, dump trucks with high and very high payload capacity, construction and road-building equipment. Belshina comprises a factory that makes large tires, a mass market tires factory, a giant tires factory, and a machining factory that provides the core manufacturing facilities with equipment and tools.

Yokohama is a Japanese company producing tires, pipes, high-pressure hoses, and other products. The company comprises around 16,000 employees. Yokohama has branch offices in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Singapore. It supplies tires for quite a few auto racing series.
