MINSK, 30 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian Industry Ministry intends to increase the output of import-substituting products by over 18% in 2022, Industry Minister Piotr Parkhomchik told BelTA in an interview.
Piotr Parkhomchik said: “The Industry Ministry has been tasked with securing the output of at least $4.5 billion worth of import substitutes in 2022. Our enterprises turned out over $3.86 billion worth of such products last year. This year’s increase should exceed 18% in comparison with 2021.”
In his words, organizations and enterprises run by the Industry Ministry have to start making nearly 400 new product titles. Import utilization is supposed to be reduced to 33.9%, 1.6 percentage points down from 2021.
Heads of holding companies and individual enterprises of the Industry Ministry system have to personally oversee the realization of 282 projects and measures specified by the Industry Ministry’s plan (it will additionally save at least $80 million in foreign currency), import substitution programs, and import substitute manufacturing instructions.
