MINSK, 24 July (BelTA) – Belarusian food producers are interested in strengthening their positions on the Canadian market, BelTA learned from Charge d'Affaires of Belarus in Canada Yevgeny Rusak.
According to the source, a delegation of Belarusian food producers led by the head of the state food industry concern Belgospishcheprom visited Canada in February 2019. Members of the delegation established contacts with Canadian partners, who are interested in selling Belarusian products via their platforms. According to Yevgeny Rusak, the visit produced good results: Belarus’ food export to Canada rose by more than 3.5 times in January-May 2020 in comparison with the same period of last year.
The diplomat continued: “In continuation of the visit together with the Belgospishcheprom concern we’ve decided to take the next step – arrange for Canadian distributors an online presentation of the Belarusian products, which export to Canada is not restricted by regulatory measures. It means an agreement of the sides is enough to start working.”
During the videoconference the Belarusian side was represented by Slodych, Vitba, MZBN, Krasny Pishchevik, Santa Bremor, Mogilev Ice Cream Factory, and other companies.
Specific ways to stimulate the export of Belarusian goods were discussed. Conditions for penetrating the Canadian market and strengthening positions on the market were outlined.
The diplomat continued: “Such events benefit everyone: Belarusian producers, Canadian importers and distributors, who in turn learn more about Belarusian producers. If the producers and the distributors come to an agreement, Canadian consumers will get an opportunity to learn more about Belarusian high-quality foods.”
