Belarusian flax industry seen as capable of growth

KORELICHI DISTRICT, 20 September (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko visited OAO Korelichi-Len during his working trip to Grodno Oblast on 20 September. The head of state hailed the performance of the flax mill, its flax processing technologies and instructed other flax companies to learn from OAO Korelichi-Len, BelTA has learned.

The president was shown products of OAO Korelichi-Len. The head of state was happy about the high quality of flaxseed oil and pointed to the useful properties of the product.

Fuel pellets made from flax shives were also on display. “This is super fuel,” the president said emphasizing the environmental friendliness of the product.

The company boasts waste-free production. “We need to process everything, the same as you do: produce fuel pellets from flax shives, hard thread, ropes, flaxseed oil. We need to revive the things we once had,” the head of state said.

“All Belarusian flax mills must emulate the experience of OAO Korelichi-Len. That’s all they need to do,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. The president promised support, including financial one, to the country’s flax mills. “We will introduce the system in other oblasts if needed,” the head of state added.
