Belarusian enterprises to present their potential at two major expos in South Africa

MINSK, 5 March (BelTA) – Belarusian enterprises will present their potential at two major expos Africa’s Big 7 and SAITEX 2024 in the Republic of South Africa, representatives of the Belarusian exhibition organization enterprise BelInterExpo told BelTA.

The largest international expos of the South African region will take place at premises of the Sandton Convention Center on 11-13 June 2024. Belarusian companies will present a Made in Belarus exposition. Their participation determines the possible representation of Belarusian goods in the region.

South Africa is one of the most developed countries on the African continent. The country is a world leader in terms of reserves and extraction of diamonds, gold, platinum, and coal. In 2022 the country’s GDP exceeded $400 billion, with the GDP per capita at $6,000. The country is home to over 60 million people. Since the population constantly grows, it consumes more and more food and other imports every year. In 2022 South Africa’s import totaled $111 billion, 19.7% up from 2021. The country’s foreign trade is quite diversified. It creates confident opportunities for entering the South African market.

In 2023 the Africa’s Big 7 and SAITEX expos gathered a total of over 5,500 participants from 40 countries. As many as 431 categories of products and 3,014 commodity items were presented. Key collective stands were presented by Uzbekistan, Malaysia, India, Canada, Morocco, China, USA, Pakistan, Indonesia, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia.

Africa’s Big 7 is the region’s leading specialized international food and beverage expo. It identifies opportunities for coordinating and building new business relationships between food producers, retailers and the catering industry. Africa's Big 7 brings together more than 4,300 participants, 170 exhibitors from 25 countries. The main thematic sections of the expo are raw materials for food production, food production and sale, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for trade and catering, public catering, technological solutions in retail and catering, agriculture and fertilizers.

SAITEX is a multi-sectoral expo that serves as a platform for business negotiations and business interaction between foreign and local manufacturers, wholesale organizations, suppliers and buyers for the sake of establishing import and export relations in the region. SAITEX’s thematic sections include industrial production, light industry, electronics and household appliances, grooming and decorative cosmetics, tools and equipment for construction and repair, information technologies, travel services, insurance, financial, investment, logistics and business services, support for import and export operations.

Belarus’ national expositions were demonstrated at the Africa’s Big 7 and SAITEX expos in 2013 and 2015. Taking into account Belarus’ active interaction with BRICS member states and the expansion of business partnership within the framework of the organization the Made in Belarus exposition is a key link in promoting Belarusian products and goods in South Africa and the region as a whole.

The BelInterExpo enterprise of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry takes care of forming the pool of Belarusian participants of the Made in Belarus exposition at the Africa’s Big 7 and SAITEX expos till 29 March 2024.
