MOSCOW, 18 June (BelTA) – Saint Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko on 18 June. During the meeting the Governor suggested that Belarusian enterprises should be permanent participants of the exhibition at premises of the import substitution center that will open in autumn 2015, the press service of the Embassy of Belarus in Russia told BelTA.
According to the source, the Ambassador backed the proposal and said it would be closely looked into.
During the meeting the head of the Saint Petersburg city administration stressed that cooperation with Belarus is a priority for Saint Petersburg. In 2014 the bilateral trade turnover rose by 3% to nearly $2 billion.
The sides discussed preparations for a session of the working group of the Belarus-Saint Petersburg Business Cooperation Council that will take place in Minsk on 6 July. Participants of the session are expected to discuss promising projects for housing construction — the Belarusian Quarter in Saint Petersburg and the Saint Petersburg Quarter in Minsk. The session is also expected to determine joint projects in the area of production sector and transport.
