MINSK, 9 April (BelTA) – Belarusian distilleries will make 23 tonnes of antiseptics per day, BelTA learned from Belarusian Healthcare Minister Vladimir Karanik in the parliament on 9 April.

The official said: “Four distilleries have already been licensed [to make antiseptics]. The recipes have been approved. As much as 14 tonnes of antiseptics was shipped yesterday. The distilleries are about to reach the designed output capacity of 23 tonnes of antiseptics per day.”

In his words, the distilleries will make antiseptics in commercial-grade containers of 5-10 liters. “The product will be primarily shipped to healthcare institutions: they have sanitizers and containers to store the antiseptic liquid in. In order to relieve other Belarusian manufacturers that offer antiseptics in smaller bottles and redirect their attention to drugstores in order to satisfy needs of the population. Apart from that, we are in negotiations with cosmetics manufacturers that have small spray bottles in order to encourage them to package antiseptics and sell them to citizens. Because a one-liter bottle is not very convenient for people. They would like to keep an antiseptic in a bag in order to spray it promptly onto something when necessary,” the healthcare minister added.

Representatives of the alcohol beverages manufacturer OAO Minsk Kristall Group noted that the first batches of a disinfectant solution for hands were made in Grodno and Klimovichi last week. The output has been increased considerably since then and antiseptics are made in all parts of the country.

According to Igor Shustov, head of the holding company Minsk Kristall Group, the company can make over 25 tonnes of disinfectants per day. If necessary and if the demand is strong, the output can be further increased. The disinfectants are available in containers of 5-6 liters and 1 liter.

As the next step OAO Minsk Kristall Group intends to start making disinfectants for various surfaces (floors, furniture, windows). The relevant recipes have been worked out already. The disinfectors will be available in retail soon.
