MINSK, 13 August (BelTA) – It is a great honor and also a great responsibility, the newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich told the media after he was introduced to the heads of ministries, agencies and concern, BelTA has learned.
"I have been in the workplace since early morning in order to get up to speed and settle in as soon as possible. Plans of further action are needed to solve the tasks facing the manufacturing industries," he said.
The deputy prime minister also underlined that it is important to continue the investment projects, modernization and import-substituting effort.
"In the manufacturing sector the investment projects are aimed at expanding the range of import-substituting products. Introducing modern equipment and enhancing the efficiency of enterprises is another major task," Viktor Karankevich said.
The deputy prime minister also emphasized the importance of quality. "We set a goal to make Belarusian products in demand both in the domestic and international markets," he said.
Until recently Viktor Karankevich held the post of the energy minister.
