Belarusian confectionery Spartak to partake in food expo SIAL China

GOMEL, 4 May (BelTA) – The Belarusian confectionery factory Spartak will take part in the major international food and beverages expo SIAL China 2015 that will take place in Shanghai, China on 6-8 May, the company’s Director General Oleg Zhidkov told BelTA.

SIAL China is a major event for food industry professionals. The expo traditionally gathers major players of retail market, public catering industry, hotel business, and restaurant business. Presentations of products, business meetings and forums dedicated to topical problems of the industry will be arranged for exhibitors and visitors.

The Spartak head remarked that participation in the food industry expo will allow unveiling the export potential of the enterprise. Representatives of the confectionery factory intend to meet with and negotiate with representatives of wholesale traders and retail chains for the sake of learning more about the Chinese market. Later on it will allow adjusting the recipes and the composition of confectionery products to satisfy tastes of local consumers, said Oleg Zhidkov.

OAO Spartak has already shipped two test batches of merchandise (about two tonnes) to Hong Kong this year. The merchandise has received positive response. “We hope that certain arrangements regarding further steps to bolster cooperation with the People’s Republic of China will be made as a result of the expo,” added the Spartak CEO.

SIAL China 2015 is expected to gather about 2,500 exhibitors that will demonstrate their products on an area of over 100,000m2. The food industry expo is expected to attract over 45,000 visitors. To compare: in 2014 the expo gathered 2,400 exhibitors from 80 countries and attracted over 40,000 visitors. The exhibition floor totaled 85,000m2.

The public joint-stock company (OAO) Spartak is a joint venture. It is one of the largest manufacturers of confectionery products and semi-finished products of its own make in Belarus. The company offers about 350 titles of confectionery products, including those with preventive and medical effects.
