Belarusian company to build diesel engine factory in Ecuador

MINSK, 16 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian civil engineering company ZAO Belzarubezhstroy intends to build a factory to make diesel engines in Ecuador, the company’s Director General Vitaly Bondarik told BelTA.

According to the source, the project has been initiated by ZAO Belzarubezhstroy. Within the next three years alone Ecuador’s transport industry will need over 30,000 worn-out diesel engines replaced. The final decision on building the factory will be made in August 2015.

The Belarusian company may also take part in building a pharmaceutical complex Enfarma EP in the city of knowledge Yachay in Imbabura Province. The city is a unique institution that employs cutting-edge technologies to bolster the research potential of students, connect the education sector with science-intensive manufacturing for the sake of creating a new production sector of Ecuador.

At present ZAO Belzarubezhstroy provides consulting services to Ecuador with regard to the technical supervision of designing, supply and construction of 500kV supervoltage power lines and 230kV accompanying facilities. It is Ecuador’s largest energy industry project that will provide corporations and households with an uninterrupted inexpensive electricity supply. Belzarubezhstroy provides complex inspection services as part of the project, stated Vitaly Bondarchik.

The sides have also agreed that a team of Ecuadorian experts will be sent to Belarus for the sake of studying Belarusian energy-saving practices.

The agreements were reached during the second session of the Belarusian-Ecuadorian commission on trade and economic cooperation in Quito, Ecuador on 11-12 February. The Belarusian delegation included representatives of the Foreign Ministry, the Industry Ministry, the State Science and Technology Committee, the Embassy of Belarus in Ecuador, top executives of ZAO Belzarubezhstroy, Belorusneft, the power grid construction company OAO Zapadelektrosetstroy, ZAO Stadler Minsk, and the gas industry education and career enhancement institute Gas-Institute.
