MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) – Belarusian companies that made part of national exhibitions (expositions) abroad signed contracts to the tune of about $150 million in 2018, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Andrei Shakhanovich told reporters on 14 February, BelTA has learned.

All in all, Belarus arranged seven national expos abroad last year. About 350 organizations and companies from Belarus took part in them. The aggregate exhibition space of these expositions exceeded 2,500 square meters; the outdoor exposition area displaying Belarus-made machinery made up 1,400 square meters.

“About 100 contracts and agreements to the tune of about $150 million were concluded during such expos. Agreements and memoranda of cooperation worth around $50 million were signed. In other words, the aggregate effect of such events can be estimated at $200 million. This is pretty much for seven events. The import expo in Shanghai was the most successful of them,” Andrei Shakhanovich said.

Director of the Belinterexpo company of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Evgeny Vvedensky pointed out that the world’s leading exporters never miss an opportunity to display their products at national pavilions abroad. For example, Germany arranges over 300 national expositions around the world every year. The advantages of national expositions include a possibility to get a better location, near the entrance, at an expo. National pavilions have an eye-catching design; therefore, they are more visible to the media, officials and big businesses. Apart from that, this format is more convenient from the organizational point of view.

In 2018 Belinterexpo arranged 24 exhibitions and expositions abroad; three of them – in Vietnam, China and Tajikistan – were featured in the plan of national expositions. Another 21 exhibitions were held without government support. “All participants of our expositions are provided with detailed marketing research reports, including analysis of market trends and the list of potential partners,” Evgeny Vvedensky noted.
