MINSK, 21 February (BelTA) – Belarusian companies signed contract to supply their products to 20 countries at Gulfood in Dubai, BelTA learned from the Belinterexpo exhibition enterprise at the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Dubai hosted the world's largest food exhibition Gulfood, which brought together more than 4,000 companies from 120 countries. For the seventh year in a row, Belarus presented the national pavilion at this prestigious international event.
In Dubai Belarusian enterprises signed supply contracts with distributors and wholesale buyers from around the world. In particular, the Dzerzhinsky Agrokombinat will ship its poultry meat to Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and its subsidiary "1st Minsk Poultry Farm" will deliver eggs to African countries and the Emirate of Dubai. The Molochny Mir dairy will deliver butter to the EU countries, the Lida Milk Canning Plant will supply skimmed milk powder to the Emirate of Dubai and the Republic of Korea, and whole milk powder - to Azerbaijan.
Importers from Bangladesh, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, the USA, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and the Philippines showed interest in dairy products showcased at the Belarusian exposition. Negotiations were held to supply products to large retail chains of the UAE.
The national pavilion "Belarus - a Taste of Nature" featured stands of 10 companies. Seven enterprises represented Grodno Oblast, three – city of Minsk and Minsk Oblast. The Belarusian exposition showcased a wide range of meat and dairy products, including poultry, beef, semi-finished products, canned food, by-products, milk powder, dried milk formula and also some new products, including baby food, cottage cheese creams and cheeses.
The opening ceremony of the Belarusian exposition was attended by Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Alla Lomakina, Director General of Grodnomyasomolprom Valerian Klim, Consul General of Belarus in Dubai Evgeny Lazarev, and Director of Belinterexpo of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Evgeny Vvedensky.
“The export of Belarusian food products to the UAE has soared ninefold since 2016 to reach $3.4 million in 2021. The Gulfood exhibition plays an important role in concluding export contracts with importers from far abroad. There was great interest in all the Belarusian products exhibited at the stand,” said Kseniya Meleshko, Head of the Main Department of Foreign Economic Activity of the Agriculture and Food Ministry.
The Belinterexpo exhibition company of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry was the organizer of the Belarusian exposition at the international exhibition of food and beverages Gulfood. The event was organized with the support of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry, the Belarusian Embassy in the United Arab Emirates, the state agency Dubai Industries and Exports, and the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
In the near future, Belarus is set to present its expositions at the major food and multipurpose exhibitions in Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Serbia, Kenya, and other countries.
