MINSK, 15 July (BelTA) – The world’s top furniture and household items vendor IKEA intends to double purchases in Belarus within one year. Thanks to that Belarusian companies intend to sell roughly €200 million worth of merchandise via IKEA’s chain, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Sweden Dmitry Mironchik. The ambassador is taking part in an annual seminar for heads of diplomatic missions and consular institutions.

The ambassador said: “Interaction between Belarus and IKEA has been advancing fast recently. The company has even adopted the strategy Go Belarus and intends to double purchases in our country. It means we will be able to export approximately €200 million worth of Belarusian products via the retail chain of the internationally recognized brand. It is a serious figure.”

Speaking about trade and economic cooperation as a whole, Dmitry Mironchik described it as successful. “This year is special because we have representations in all countries in Northern Europe. It has correspondingly affected the intensity of our bilateral relations and results of economic cooperation. I am very satisfied with the dynamics of bilateral trade with Norway and Sweden. We have positive dynamics of export shipments,” the head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission stressed.
