MINSK, 21 November (BelTA) - A Chinese manufacturer of raw materials for the textile industry debuted on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange and sold a polyurethane membrane/knitted mesh batch worth Br1.4 million to a Belarusian textile producer, BelTA learned from the press service of the exchange.
Thus, the pool of foreign sellers of these products using the BUCE platform has expanded. "In addition to diversifying the Belarusian exports, the BUCE seeks to improve the efficiency of procurement activities of domestic enterprises. Attracting foreign manufacturers of products in demand in Belarus is an integral part of this work," the press service noted.
When it comes to the textile industry, the use of the exchange mechanism made it possible to establish supplies of cotton yarn, cotton fiber, coarse calico and other valuable raw materials from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Türkiye and Uzbekistan to the domestic market in a relatively short time. As a result, Belarusian textile companies increased purchases on the BUCE platform by 6.5 times over 2023.
"Attracting suppliers from China will help concentrate more suppliers on the BUCE and in the future will have a positive impact on the dynamics of the Belarusian-Chinese trade," the BUCE press service said.
According to BUCE, in January-October of this year, the amount of transactions in the section "Industrial and Consumer Goods" exceeded Br967 million, which was up by 35% year-on-year. The largest contributors to sales were vehicles, special-purpose equipment, spare parts and components for industrial equipment, industrial tools, electronics and equipment for video and audio recording.
