MINSK, 28 December (BelTA) - Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange held first trading session to sell peat briquettes abroad, BelTA learned from the BUCE press service.

Three transactions to sell a total of 1,000 tonnes were concluded during the trading session. All in all, six companies from Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Russia participated in the session.

"Trading sessions in peat-based fuel briquettes is a new promising area which we plan to actively develop next year. Biofuels are in demand all over the world, and the demand for it is only growing. Therefore, the sooner we tap into foreign markets, the more opportunities we will have to gain a foothold. As the trial session showed, European companies are ready to buy Belarusian peat briquettes. They are satisfied with the price, quality and terms of delivery. This time, the deals were concluded by companies from Lithuania, but next time we expect more activity from companies from other countries. The Belarusian peat briquette producers will expand their reach," the press service said.

Trading sessions in timber and fuel products to the foreign market are held at BUCE twice a week. A trading sessions sell edged and unedged boards, timber for containers, fire wood chips and wood waste, fuel pellets, fuel briquettes made of wood and peat.
