Belarusian commodity exchange holds presentation in Egypt

MINSK, 21 December (BelTA) - Presentation of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) and the Belarusian woodworking sector was organized at Egypt’s Wood Working & Furniture Chamber in Cairo, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Cairo.

The event was attended by Belarus’ Ambassador to Egypt Sergei Terentiev, Chairman of Egypt’s Wood Working & Furniture Chamber Ahmed Helmy, head of the BUCE foreign trade department Aleksandr Bashliy (via a video link), representatives of Egyptian companies and organization and the Wood Working & Furniture Chamber.

The Egyptian business community was informed about the capabilities of the Belarusian woodworking sector and about woodworking products manufactured in Belarus. The presentation highlighted the possibilities of supplying various types of wood boards through the Belarusian Forest Company and sawn timber with the assistance of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange.

Aleksandr Bashliy informed the participants about BUCE, the business opportunities it offers, the timber section, sawn timber exports and the registration process at BUCE.

He noted that the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange enables direct purchases of Belarusian timber without international intermediates, provides simultaneous access to many manufacturers, ensures transparency of transactions and control over their execution.

On the sidelines of the presentation, Ambassador Sergei Terentiev held a meeting with Chairman of the Chamber Eng. Ahmed Helmy. The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation in education and technology, in particular, the possibility to launch the second edition of joint course in furniture design in 2021. The parties considered holding a video conference early next year with the participation of Egypt’s Wood Working & Furniture Chamber and Belarusian furniture importers and timber manufacturers with a view to finding ways to step up mutual supplies.

Egypt’s Wood Working & Furniture Chamber is a business association that brings together Egypt's major furniture manufacturers and suppliers of woodworking products. It is a member of the Federation of Egyptian Industries.
