MINSK, 6 November (BelTA) - Zimbabwe is looking to have a record harvest this year. Belarusian combine harvesters help local farmers to harvest wheat in the fields, The Sunday Mail reports.
The country has already cropped 411,800 tonnes of grain from more than 77,100 hectares. This accounts for 86% of the total 90,100 hectares, another record that was planted in the country this year. It is expected that the total grain harvest will exceed 440,000 tonnes.
According to a representative of Zimbabwe's Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, the wheat harvest is almost complete across the country. To expedite the harvesting before the onset of rains, the government has deployed 249 state-of-the-art Belarusian combine harvesters. The flagship GS12 combine harvester is doing at least 40 hectares per day.
The deployment of advanced mechanization equipment from Belarus has made harvesting seamless, the representative of the ministry emphasized. He added that the investment in Belarusian equipment “has carried the day”.
