MINSK, 22 September (BelTA) – The construction of a factory by the Belarusian-Chinese car assembly company BelGee is in the final stage, BelTA learned from Belarusian First Deputy Industry Minister Gennady Svidersky on 22 September.
The new premises are ready, said the official. The equipment will be commissioned in H1 2017, the model will be polished and the relevant tests will be carried out.
In October 2011 the Belarusian Industry Ministry signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Chinese company Geely with a view to making cars. In December 2011 the joint venture BelGee was established to assemble cars. The investors include Belarusian Autoworks (BelAZ trademark), Geely and the Belarusian-Chinese company Soyuzavtotekhnologiyi. The company assembled the first car in February 2013 to start selling cars in March 2013. BelGee dealerships are located in all the oblast capitals and in major cities of Belarus.
