Belarusian-Chinese agreement on transportation by road signed

Belarusian-Chinese agreement on transportation by road signed

MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) – Belarus and China have signed an intergovernmental agreement on international transportation by road, representatives of the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry told BelTA.

The agreement was signed with a view to advancing and facilitating cooperation as well as foreign trade relations in the sphere of international transportation by road between Belarus and China.

The agreement will apply to the transportation of cargoes and passengers between Belarus and China, to transit across Belarus and China, and transportation from any of the two countries to a third country and backwards by Belarusian or Chinese forwarding companies using vehicles registered in Belarus or China.

Belarus and China will have to exchange permits for transporting passengers and cargoes while observing the non-discrimination principle. The number of permits granted annually will be determined by the joint commission on international transportation by road. There are plans to issue non-recurrent permits for one trip there and back.

Truckers, who transport passengers or cargoes in the other countries, will be exempted from taxes, duties, and other payments arising from the ownership or usage of vehicles.

Belarus and China will be able to amend and expand the agreement by mutual consent. The agreement will come into force 30 days after the last written notification about the fulfillment of intrastate procedures to enforce the agreement has been submitted via diplomatic channels.
